源远流长的发展历史

• 淮阳泥泥狗历史源远流长，可上溯至远古时期。传说伏羲氏与女娲氏在此地抟土造人，泥泥狗便作为这一神话传说的民俗遗风流传下来。从考古发现的远古陶制玩具来看，其与泥泥狗有着相似的形态与风格，进一步印证了它的古老起源。数千年来，泥泥狗与淮阳太昊陵祭祀活动紧密相依。每年农历二月二到三月三的太昊陵庙会，泥泥狗作为祭祀用品和特色玩具，成为庙会文化的标志性元素，吸引着无数游客与香客，在岁月长河中持续传承着古老的文化记忆，见证着这片土地的历史变迁与文化积淀。

• Huaiyang Mud Dog has a long and rich history, dating back to ancient times. Legend has it that Fuxi and N ü wa kneaded earth here to make humans, and the mud dog became a folk tradition that has been passed down. The archaeological discoveries of ancient pottery toys show that they have a similar shape and style to mud dogs, further confirming their ancient origins. For thousands of years, the mud dog has been closely associated with the sacrificial activities at the Taihao Mausoleum in Huaiyang. The Taihao Mausoleum Temple Fair, held every year from February 2nd to March 3rd in the lunar calendar, features mud dogs as sacrificial offerings and characteristic toys, becoming a symbolic element of the temple fair culture, attracting countless tourists and pilgrims and continuing to inherit ancient cultural memories in the long river of time, witnessing the historical changes and cultural accumulation of this land.

1. 取土选料：采用淮阳当地特有的黄胶泥，这种泥土细腻且黏性高。挖掘后，历经反复晾晒，去除多余水分；大力捶打，使泥土紧实；精细筛选，滤掉石子等杂质，确保泥土纯净且可塑性强，为后续制作打下良好基础。

1. Soil and material selection: Use the locally unique yellow clay from Huaiyang, which is delicate and highly viscous. After excavation, it undergoes repeated drying to remove excess moisture, Vigorous pounding to compact the soil, and Fine screening and filtering out impurities such as stones to ensure the purity and strong plasticity of the soil, laying a solid foundation for subsequent production.

 2. 手工捏制：艺人们仅凭双手和精湛技艺，无模具辅助，将泥土塑造为形形色色的泥泥狗模样。无论是飞禽走兽还是神话人物，皆能在艺人手下鲜活呈现，每个泥泥狗都因手工捏制而独具神韵与个性。

2. Handmade kneading: Artists rely solely on their hands and exquisite skills, without the assistance of moulds, to shape the soil into various shapes of mud dogs. Whether it's birds, beasts, or mythical characters, they can all be vividly presented under the hands of artists, and each mud dog has a unique charm and personality due to its handmade crafting.

3. 彩绘装饰：运用红、黄、绿、白、黑等鲜艳色彩，以简洁流畅却又夸张奔放的线条勾勒各类神秘符号、动物纹理及神话意象。这些图案不仅赋予泥泥狗艳丽外观，更蕴含深厚文化寓意，是远古文化与民俗信仰的直观表达。

3. Color painting decoration: Using bright colours such as red, yellow, green, white, and black to outline various mysterious symbols, animal textures, and mythological images with simple, smooth, yet exaggerated and unrestrained lines. These patterns give the mud dog a beautiful appearance and contain profound cultural meanings, which are intuitive expressions of ancient culture and folk beliefs.

4. 烧制定型：采用低温烧制方法，使泥泥狗在保持一定硬度以便保存的同时，又不会因高温而改变泥土特性与彩绘色泽，从而完整保留泥泥狗的原始风貌与艺术质感。

4. Firing and shaping: The low-temperature firing method is used to maintain the hardness of the mud dog for preservation without changing the soil characteristics and colour of the painting due to high temperature, thus fully preserving the original style and artistic texture of the mud dog.

Traditional production techniques have no successors, and market demand continues to shrink. To revitalise this ancient folk treasure, the government should strengthen protection measures, introduce policies to provide financial support and assist in the development of inheritance activities and the cultivation of new talents.
