这把椅子是对种植园椅的重新诠释。这件家具是殖民时期的象征，通常放置在面向田野的走廊下。原本为中性色调，带有宽大的脚凳，我们去殖民化这一象征性家具的方式是用一种种植的植物进行染色：靛蓝。通过将这件家具融入新的设计，并与这些植物合作，我们展示了这一印度传统遗产，并通过应用到我们的当代创作中，让这些手工技艺焕发生机。

Cette chaise est une ré-interprétation des chaises de plantation. Une pièce de mobilier qui est synonyme avec l’époque coloniale, généralement placé sous une véranda face aux champs. Originalement de couleurs neutres, avec de larges reposes pieds, notre approche afin de décoloniser cette pièce de mobilier symbolique est de la teindre avec la plante cultivée : l’indigo. En intégrant cette pièce dans un nouveau dessin et en travaillant avec ces plantes, nous donnons à voir cet héritage traditionnel indien et faisons vivre ces techniques artisanales en les appliquant à nos créations contemporaines.

从这项研究中诞生了Ālamārī，一件敏感的家具，旨在讲述历史并收藏社区的文物。阿拉玛里衣橱由三个可拆卸的书架组成，呼唤出宗教、家庭和商业三联画，是社区生活的基石。罗望子木是留尼汪岛和印度特有的，连接了这两个地区，同时也让人联想到拉瓦特族的起源，该族群由族长伊索普·拉瓦特通过出售当地木材建立起来。用姜黄染色的黄麻绳唤起了该社区的商业起源以及扎拉布商店里的粮食袋。通过包裹衣柜，这种半丝半棉的布料称为Mashru（阿拉伯语意为“允许的”，穆斯林男性的皮肤不能接触丝绸），呈现出一个不透明的空间，一个反向，一个亲密的门槛。
From this research emerged Ālamārī, a sensitive piece of furniture designed to tell history and store the community's artifacts. The Alāmārī wardrobe is composed of three detachable bookshelves, evoking a triptych of religion, family, and commerce, forming the cornerstone of community life. Tamarind wood, native to Réunion Island and India, connects these two regions and also recalls the origins of the Lavate community, which was established by the patriarch Isop Lavate through the sale of local timber. Jute ropes dyed with turmeric evoke the commercial origins of this community and the grain sacks in Zharab stores. By covering the wardrobe, this semi-silk, semi-cotton fabric called Mashru (Arabic for 'permissible', as Muslim men cannot touch silk with their skin) creates an opaque space, an inverted, intimate threshold.

Materra-Matang is an architecture, furniture, and research studio founded by Ophélie Dozat and Lucien Dumas in 2022.

As architects, cabinetmakers, and researchers, their approach is multidisciplinary, dedicated to designing projects at various scales: from furniture to artworks, from architecture to landscape fragments. In their practice, design, making, and experimentation are no longer separate; a detail, a narrative, or a material (soil, wood, stone, natural fibers, etc.) can become the starting point for a more global project. Each project revolves around a keen analysis of the area, aiming to connect architecture with its soil, and they tend to use local materials and their handcrafted transformations.
